Our shop shelves are packed with all the cheese accompaniments you’ll need including crackers and chutneys as well as delicious, homemade jams.

We are proud to offer an extensive range of cheeses-the best for miles…

Our selection of British cheeses is second to none and our cheddar range include: Montgomery Cheddar, Isle of Mull, Cheddar Gorge to name but a few!

Colston Bassett Stilton, Waterloo, Wigmore, Spenwood, Rachel’s Goat Cheese, Dorset Blue Vinny and Wyfe of Bath are just some of the other delicious British cheeses we stock.

Brie de Meaux, Comte and Gruyere are always available.

We pride ourselves on using fresh ingredients and locally sourced where possible. Serving breakfast dishes, light lunches, cakes and snacks, we also offer a specials menu which changes regularly.

From bacon rolls, homemade soups, sourdough cheese toasties and salads…we have something for everyone!

Seating available inside and also outside during the summer months. It’s a good idea to call us to make a reservation for lunch-sometimes we get very busy!

Cath Nicholson took over Wells Stores in April 2016. After training as a professional chef in the USA, she has spent the last 25 years cooking, reading, teaching, writing and dreaming about food…not to mention eating!

Wells Stores was originally the local village shop in Streatley, run by the Wells sisters, hence the name! In 1953, the shop was taken over by Major Patrick Rance.

The monacled Major is famous in the cheese world and largely credited with saving the artisan cheese culture in Britain with his passion and charisma.

In 1990, the business moved to Abingdon, under the management of Gill Draycott. In 1999, she moved the business to Peach Croft Farm and since then the business continues to grow.
